ABOUT
Anthony Jakobs is a filmmaker, photographer, and songwriter currently based in Los Angeles. He has directed music videos for a number of artists including Sinxi, Shak Syrn, LastViolets, and Grandpa Sweats. His video catalogue has collectively garnered hundreds of thousands of views on social media.
In 2022, Jakobs directed his first short film, Vänner (Swedish for "Friends"), which explores the dynamics of friendship and identity between two male friends. The film premiered at the Santa Clarita International Film Festival and has been featured in nearly a dozen film festivals, winning Best LGBTQ Film at the Redwood Film Festival and receiving nominations for Best Short Film at the Student World Impact and Shortfundly Annual Film festivals. Vänner is scheduled for a digital release in 2024.
Jakobs' follow-up was the buddy comedy Dean's List. The lighthearted comedy follows two friends navigating a chaotic night as they prepare for the end of their university journey. Starring MasterChef alum Juni Cuevas, the film saw similar success and received a nomination for Best Fiction Short at the Cranford Film Festival.
Outside of filmmaking, Jakobs has contributed as a writer for the Spanish music publication La Nueva Tendencia and has had his work featured in additional publications such as The Irish Times, the Memphis Business Journal, Some Magazine, and Boylicious.
As a member of the musical group Dec Serrano, Jakobs has released the songs "Vices" (with Shak SYrn), "Smile", and "How Long Did It Last" (featuring Grandpa Sweats).
